16 – 19 Football Academy Study Programme

This course aims to build upon sports skills and knowledge, develop transferable skills, and gain the opportunity to take your studies on to higher education.

Players will study a variety of nationally-recognised qualifications within sport, coaching and fitness. The programme will is based in Warwick and has excellent facilities including it’s own training ground and separate teaching and education centre . The BTEC based education programme is delivered by our Partners SCL, an approved BTEC Centre. FuturePro will deliver the elite football training on the programme.

Year 1 – BTEC Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Sport

Year 2 – BTEC Level 3 Extended/ Diploma in Sport

Where required students will study Maths and English GCSE or Functional Skills. To be awarded the Level 3 Subsidiary Diploma in Sport a student must achieve a minimum of 60 credits. To achieve the full Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Sport you will need to complete the 90 Credit Diploma in the first year and then top-up with a further 90 credits in the second year. These will run as two separate courses.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

You will need to have at least one of the following: 3 GCSEs at grade C / grade 4 or above including English Language, or; Level 2 qualification in a relevant vocational subject area and GCSE English Language at grade C / grade 4 or above.

ENGLISH AND MATHS

You will still have the opportunity to continue to develop your English and Maths skills if you have not achieved a GCSE grade C in core subjects leaving school.

A* – C grade / 9 – 4 grade GCSE

You will study your Core Qualification while continuing to develop literacy and numeracy skills.

D or E grade / 3 or 2 grade GCSE

You will enrol on a GCSE resit class and prepare to retake the exam. All students are subject to diagnostic testing and in some circumstances students who have achieved an E or 2 grade may study a Functional Skills qualification.

10 Hours of UEFA licensed coaching 4 – 5 times a week From Professional Coaches

Compete in the Conference youth alliance & FA Youth cup v professional/ semi-professional opposition

Compete in The British College’s football league

Train with the First Team with an emphasis of progressing into the First Team Squad

Weekly recorded matches for match analysis & Evaluation

Fixtures V professional football clubs & International colleges/ touring teams

Visits from current and X Professional footballers/ coaches

Regular visits to St George’s Park

Position specific coaching including Goalkeeper training
